My main conclusion after watching The Angel’s Share is that I haven’t seen enough Ken Loach films.

Obviously I was interested to see The Angel’s Share given the Scottish setting and the little bit of hype that the film has received here through its appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. I wasn’t disappointed by any aspect of the movie and would recommend it to anyone.

The characters are real and the acting is hard to fault. The film strikes a great balance between highlighting the mistakes the main character, Robbie, made in the past and not being overly sympathetic, and at the same time recognising that he deserves a chance to build a better future and put it all behind him. The inclusion of the scene where Robbie is confronted by one of his former victims and the victim’s family was inspired.

All of the performances given are believable, but i’d reserve a special mention for John Henshaw, who plays Harry. There’s an almost intangible sadness to the character where you know he’s also trying to make up for earlier mistakes in his life, although the film never goes into details. Very understated and poignant in parts.

Above all, this is a film with heart and has something for everyone.

In times where they watch so many movies where the bad are killed by the good or the good are murdered by the bad, Children, Teens, Adults are going to Witness how a SEAL, Lt Murphy, and his Brothers Showed the Only Example Worth Following : Showing Honour’s Path.

In times when we see too many corpses or bones on screen, we can See Heroes with their Strength or Weakness Achieving Mission ordered Best they can. The moment Lt Murphy chooses to set the Herders, or better said the dishonorable Horde Free, Defines the SEALS DNA : Honour First. It is also what makes Enemies secretly Envy they were Americans. But they will never say that of course.

For all mocking 237 years of US Navy Traditions, I am asking many here: would you have shot the herders in panic first and shed Crocodile humanitarian tears after? Most likely, this is what happens in war times. Here we have a Lt never Giving Up his Humane integrity in the name of his brothers survival. He spared the herders. He paid with his Life. That is what Impact Children. I know because this kind of man impacted my own childhood.

The music is heart breaking and when listening to the Fallen notes, I felt Lt Murphy and all the Fallen silently walking on my Spine as gentle leaves. Irish vibrant rhythms, melancholic crystal guitar sounds will make your Minds and Hearts truly feel what you would have Felt in Lt Murphy’s Boots. That Second where the Good Choice with Sacrifice Lifted the whole Navy Corps into Honour Sky. Those minutes where his brothers are in danger and Lt Murphy only able to Save them by Forgetting his wounds and letting His Protective Love be the Invincible Shield saving others.

Yes, this must be seen in schools instead of Kids or students being shown the worst of what man can do, they can watch what a single man can do while the Blood of Courage is infiltrating the tissues of a very ungrateful cruel earth. Far away from Sweet Home.

Times are Dark so Watch the Light of Hope displayed in this Documentary. Life is the Movie.

It is not as mesmerizing as Breaking Bad. It is mesmerizing enough to make me Wish to Become a Better Person.

I want to thank Kate B for adding to my knowledge. Really. I had no idea that Abbottabad was an Arabic-speaking city where most of the world’s camels come to take a nap as the dunes of the desert silhouette them against the setting sun.

After about the fifteenth person yells „Yalla! Aimshee!“ you begin to wonder: couldn’t they just have Wikipedia’d this stuff? It’s written on that website that the national language of Pakistan is Urdu, right? Especially if one is to make a movie about an event a couple of years after it transpired, surely a little Googling would help? It’s an error so enormous that it made me think, „If they got that wrong, why should I believe they got anything right?“ It’s grossly insulting and reminds me that one should never rely on others to represent oneself.

„You don’t understand Pakistan!“ White Chick screams at her supervisor at one point. And you do? I wanted to ask. You, who just said „shukran“ at a „bar“ at the Marriot Hotel after you were served wine in a margarita glass? Overall disappointed with Kate B’s lack of effort in representing such recent events in a realistic manner. Another edifice to lazy filmmaking and needless hype.

I remember watching this movie when they would air it once a year on CBS a few years back. Now it is shown on a couple of different networks quite frequently. This is a wonderful film for the whole family. Who wouldn’t want to take a journey to the magical land of Oz?

I think that it is terrific how well this movie has held up over the years. It’s going on sixty-two years since it was first released and yet, it is timeless. It is great to look back on a film that was made in the thirties, and compare it to the movies made in this day and age. This is a film that will just be something that stays around forever.

The Wizard of Oz is enjoyable for people of all ages. Everything about it brings a smile to my face. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to just magically be transported to a land of talking trees and little munchkins? Of course it would be. The flying monkeys, a talking lion, the astounding ruby slippers, and everything else adds a special kind of magic to the screen.

The atmosphere and setting is magnificent. This is one of the things that makes the film so stunning. Anyway, the forest, the witch’s castle, and even the farm is really well laid out.

I don’t think that the casting could have been done any better. Judy Garland shines as the innocent Kansas girl. Her dancing and singing just brightens the whole story up. The lion, tin man, and scarecrow perform amazingly also. Everyone involved down to the littlest munchkin acts so well.

Even though this is a movie for everyone, it is categorized as a children’s flick. The writing is good with very simple lines and problems, but slightly complex so we’re not falling asleep of boredom.

What’s left to say? Other things like the wardrobe, special effects, musical talents, and even the famous yellow brick road, are so well put together. Oz gives us an idea of what an almost perfect world would be like. No matter how old this movie becomes and we still look back on it, we’ll still be able to enjoy at least one thoughtful movie. Classics never die. (Hence the name.)
